    Working in the field of diversity and inclusion for the past ten years has been both rewarding and frustrating. Rewarding in the fact that I get to recruit, train, and retain talented individuals; provide educational, mentoring, and leadership opportunities; increased efficacy of existing initiatives, programs, and communications; and leverage diverse perspectives and experiences to develop innovative and creative ideas and solutions.

    The Michigan After-School Partnership (MASP) is supportive of Gov. Snyder’s message, delivered earlier today, on the need to improve talent in the state.  A recent initiative facilitated by MASP directly addresses the issue, noted by the Governor, that Michigan has too few students graduating in the engineering and mathematic fields.
  • Michigan Making Good Progress in Making Afterschool Programs Available to All Children Who Need Them,But Still Has Vast Unmet Need

    A new assessment of states’ progress toward offering afterschool programs to all children who need them finds that Michigan is making real progress, but has more work to do to fully meet the need. Michigan was one of just nine states to earn a 4 on a scale of 1 to 5 in the new report.
