Program Quality

Standards of Quality

On August 12, 2008, the Michigan State Board of Education approved the revised Standards of Quality for Out-of-School Time Programs in Michigan.  These standards, based on research, may be used as a framework for the design and implementation of high-quality, comprehensive programs that meet the specific and different needs of children during non-school hours.

Quality standards have been established for a set of critical components which indicate program quality, including:

  • Health, Safety and Nutrition
  • Human Relationships and Staffing
  • Indoor and Outdoor Environments
  • Program and Activities
  • Administration
  • Single-Purpose Programs

The Michigan After-School Partnership has endorsed these Standards of Quality.
