Stay Home. Stay MIndful: A New Mental Health Resource for Michiganders

Stay Home, Stay MIndful: A new website offered in partnership with Headspace, a global leader in mindfulness and meditation, and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is available as a mental health resource for Michiganders to access for free during the COVID-19 pandemic. The site includes a specially-curated collection of science-backed, evidence-based guided meditations, along with at-home workouts that guide people through mindful exercises, sleep and kids content to help address rising stress and anxiety. Available at www.headspace.com/MI, an internet connection is needed to access these tools.

Detroit PALS Rallies Community in ‘Six Degrees of Separation’ Campaign

At a time of community crisis, the leadership of Detroit PAL (Police Athletic League) has launched a campaign to rally the community to reach out and check in on the welfare of others. The campaign, titled “Six Degrees of Separation - Checking in Saves Lives,” asks people to pledge to check in with at least six family members or friends on the 6th, 16th and 26th day of each month and provide support and resources to those who may need valuable information via text, email, social media, website. Detroit PAL is also offering a Six Degrees of Separation T-shirt for sale on the PAL website, and volunteers are encouraged to post selfies, wearing their T-shirts, on social media with #CheckingInSavesLives or donate directly to Detroit PAL to support their efforts.
