Showcase the Power of Afterschool: Invite MASP to Visit Your Program
The Michigan Afterschool Partnership is reintroducing our program site visit initiative to connect with out-of-school time programs across Michigan.
Through this initiative, MASP staff will visit afterschool, summer learning, and other OST programs that are interested in hosting a visit. These visits are designed to strengthen relationships, learn directly from providers, celebrate program successes, and better understand the needs and opportunities shaping Michigan’s OST field.
About the Site Visit Initiative
Every OST program has its own strengths, challenges, and community impact. By visiting programs directly, MASP aims to better understand the day-to-day experiences of program staff, youth, and leaders while identifying ways to support, connect, and elevate the field.
Site visits are supportive, collaborative, and engaging. They are not monitoring or evaluation visits.
Purpose of the Visits
Through program site visits, MASP hopes to:
Build authentic relationships with OST providers and leaders
Learn more about the day-to-day experiences of programs and staff
Highlight innovative and promising practices taking place across the state
Better understand program needs and opportunities for support
Strengthen statewide connections within the OST community
Elevate youth voice and showcase the impact of quality afterschool and summer programming
What a Site Visit May Include
Each site visit may look a little different depending on the program. Visits may include:
A tour of the program or facility
Conversations with staff, youth, and program leadership
Discussion around program successes, challenges, and goals
Opportunities to share resources, ideas, and partnership opportunities
Photos or storytelling opportunities, when appropriate permissions are in place
Photo and Media Permissions
MASP may request to take photos during a site visit to help highlight the impact of afterschool and summer programming across Michigan.
Photos will only be taken when the program confirms that signed media/photo waivers are on file for anyone being photographed. Programs may also let MASP know about any photo restrictions, privacy considerations, or individuals who should not be photographed.
Who Can Host a Site Visit
Afterschool, summer learning, youth development, and other out-of-school time programs across Michigan are invited to express interest in hosting a MASP site visit.
Interested in Hosting?
Programs interested in hosting a site visit can complete the MASP Summer Site Visit Interest Form to share program information, availability, and any details MASP should know before visiting.
